Lap Size or Crib Size Rag Quilt 45 x 60 Inches

Materials List
2 yards of Fabric 1
1 yard of Fabric 2
2 ½ yards of Fabric 3 for backing
1 bag of crib size batting (cotton, traditional or low loft)
Sewing machine & Size 12 or 14 needles
900 yards of thread
Scissors
Lint roller
Other helpful tools:
36” cutting mat
Rotary cutter
Cutting ruler
Instructions
1. Cut 72 (6”) squares from Fabric 1.
2. Cut 36 (6”) squares from Fabric 2.
3. Cut 108 (6”) squares from Fabric 3.
4. Cut 108 (4”) squares from batting.
5. Stack squares as follows with right sides facing outward: bottom square, batting square (centered), top square.
6. Sew “X” across each square stack to hold stacks together.
7. See pattern below for the layout and sew squares together to form 12 rows of 9 squares each. Use ½” seam allowance with seams facing the front.
8. Sew the 12 rows together, referring to the pattern again if necessary to get the layout correct. Use ½” seam allowance with seams facing the front.
9. Sew around the edges of the quilt using a ½” seam allowance.
10. Snip the seams.
11. Wash in cold water on gentle cycle. Dry on low setting. Be sure to clean drums and lint traps thoroughly. Clean the dryer trap a few times through the cycle.
12. Shake well outside. Use a lint roller to remove the remaining strings that remain.
