Category: Quilting
Materials List
fabric of choice
rotary cutter
self-healing cutting mat
cutting ruler
Instructions
1. Double or quadruple your fabric to make cutting go faster when you need to cut several squares. All edges must be aligned evenly. If you are using stripes, checks, plaids or the like be sure the patterns line up on all 4 sides before attempting this.
2. Cut your strips.
3. After cutting your strips line them up in rows, as seen below, so that you can cut several squares at once. From the 3 quadrupled strips that you see pictured below, I cut 36 six inch squares with 5 or 6 rotary cuts in less than 5 minutes. For this project, I needed to cut 870 squares from fabric and batting for a quilt. The batting could only be doubled because of its thickness. It still took me less than 4 hours to cut all of those squares.
